Royyala Iguru

Prawns Masala / Prawns Curry (Andhra Style)

Prawns Masala is a spicy Prawns dish, Andhra style Spicy Prawns Masala also known as Royyala Iguru. Royyala means Prawns in Telugu, and Iguru means thick gravy. As you all know in India, Andhra food is labeled as the spiciest, and this typical Prawns curry or Prawns Masala is coated with spices and herbs in plenty, to provide you that extra zing!! Although I love spicy food

It is Andhra style Prawns Masala, so it will be spicy to the core. If you are not so keen on spicy food, cut down on green chilies and spices, it would still be a very tempting dish as the Masala has rich and delicious flavors. Prawns Masala is best enjoyed with plain white rice and other veggies; not that the veggies will interest anyone when the Prawns is there!

Well, we all just loved the succulent prawns dish, burning of the tongue was forgotten in seconds! So, try this Royal spicy Prawns Masala and enjoy the punch!!

Tips:

  • Medium to large sized Prawns are best for this type of Prawns Masala.
  • Andhra style means spicy, so adjust the chilies and other spices according to your spice tolerance level.
  • You can use coconut oil, sunflower oil or any other vegetable oil for this recipe.
  • Marinating the prawns will make it more flavorful.
  • Do not add water for cooking Prawns. Water from the prawns is enough to cook the prawns.
  • You may add a pinch of cumin powder (jeera powder) for a different flavor.
  • Serve it with rice or rotis.
